Restorative yoga is a gentle format designed to bring the body into its best balance. Class begins with a slow flow to warm the muscles and bring movement into the joints, followed by supported body positions and breath awareness. This is particularly useful for overall wellness, injury recovery or to address a chronic health condition such as arthritis. Transitions between poses happen slowly and supported postures allow the mind to begin the process of unwinding. Class may conclude Yoga Nidra (also known as yogic sleep) which is a conscious sleep known to bring relaxation.
