I grew up in Memphis, TN and was always extremely active as a child. I took dance for a long time until I eventually started cheerleading in middle school and continued that through the end of high school. In college, I started working out more-I grew to love running and weights, being active was a huge part of my life and it kept me grounded during those years. When I graduated and moved to Nashville to start my first job, I realized quickly that finding the time to work out wasn’t going to be nearly as easy. And considering I didn’t have a free gym to go to like I did on campus, I found places to run difficult (I hate running outside!). I tried things here and there-Crossfit, barre, cycling, etc.-and with the commitment it now took to make a workout happen, i knew if I didn’t love it I wasn’t going to do it and I realized quickly that my lack of passion for those was going to keep me from being committed to them. I eventually stumbled upon Buti Yoga and was immediately hooked!!! It combined everything I loved about fitness and packed it into one class. I was able to dance, get cardio in and sweat a ton while also toning AND, most importantly, I was able to let myself go and feel free from judgement and ridicule. I have been in love with it ever since and I decided to get certified in January of 2016!
Words to live by? “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb in his skin and walk around in it.”-prob my favorite quote of all time on how to treat each other.
