Amber has been doing hair for 13 years, with the past 4.5 years being a freelance artist pursuing work in the fashion and entertainment industry. It’s her absolute passion and she wouldn’t trade that for the world; but staying so consumed in just that and especially starting to freelance and work even longer hours on set, her health became even more of a distant concern. After having her weight fluctuate up and down her entire life and finding herself dealing with chronic pain from standing & doing hair for hours on end she decided it was time to take control of her body, lack of strength and pain she was experiencing. She discovered Buti yoga in 2014. After her first class she felt defeated and weak but at the same time, it lit a fire inside of her that she didn’t know existed. She was hooked. She continued to take Buti as well as work with a personal trainer and spend more time in the gym. After 2.5 years of taking Buti classes, she started to daydream about how fun it would be teach and share the buti bliss and empowerment she felt with every class she attended. She never really thought she would actually do it until she found out a certification was coming to Nashville and decided, why not make those daydreams become reality?! She finds doing hair to be a rewarding job from making others feel better about themselves, and Buti Yoga ties right into that. There is nothing more rewarding than having other women come into class and fully let themselves go and feel that self love and appreciation she feels with every class, along with that strong tribal feminine energy shared in live classes. She could not be more grateful to be able to share this practice she so deeply loves and connect with others in such an empowering way!

Words to Live by? “Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal. Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.”
Favorite Vacation Spot? Travel is something I find vital in my life. I can’t pick just one spot and would have to say, anywhere new. Whether it be back packing in other countries or lounging poolside at a tropical resort, I want to see & experience it all!
Guilty Pleasure? “Dance like no one is watching..”
And I do so whether I’m cleaning, cooking, driving (minimal movements for safety purposes), etc! I just like loud tunes to sing and dance along with like I’m in my own music video, to make life even more enjoyable!
Career outside of FreeBird? My #1 passion is hair. I’ve been a hairstylist for over 13 years and for the past few years I have pursued the freelance world working in all realms in the fashion and entertainment industry! It is crazy exhausting at times and so rarely as glamorous as one may think, but at the end of the day it truly is as incredible as it sounds!
Family? My immediate family lives in Nashville! My brother and I moved here after my parents had been living here for 2 years. I’m extremely close with them. They’re my world! I have a nephew, Phoenix, whom I share a birthday with and he is THE absolute love of my life!!!
City & State you’re from? Charlotte, NC. The Queen City!
Favorite type of workout? BUTI for life!! I also enjoy strength training and cardio, these days. I never thought I would say such a thing!
What did you want to be when you grew up? Around the age of 3-4, I watched The Little Mermaid literally every day for a year so coincidentally, I wanted to be a mermaid. I think its also why I subconsciously ended up with red hair 9 years ago, and will probably never change it.
Secret Talent? I’m pretty much a Mario Kart champion.
