About Sammi Ke-a

Sammi grew up in the world of competitive swimming. Unfortunately, due to injuries, her swimming career had ended prematurely. With lack of exercise, along with unhealthy eating habits, excessive weight gain and depression had soon taken over.

Sammi’s understanding, love and passion for mindbody fitness started in 2013 after a friend invited her to a BarreAmped class. “It wasn’t until BarreAmped that I reconnected to the spiritual and physical challenge that I had missed after swimming”. After eight months as a client of mindbody fitness Sammi lost 40 pounds and gained the confidence and strength to ‘follow her bliss’. Although Sammi also has a teachers’ spirit (from years of teaching children), she is always looking for new perspectives and opportunities in personal growth- tapping in to being the best version of herself. She brings that excitement to all of her classes while sharing and celebrating others’ similar goals.

Guilty Pleasure? I don’t think of anything that brings me pleasure as guilty 😉
Career outside of FreeBird? Private Movement Advisor to clients all around Nashville & a dog nanny to Lucy & Charlie.
City & State you’re from? born in New Hampshire, lived in Germany until I was 8 and was raised in Huntsville AL.
Favorite type of workout? My movement practice depends on where I am mentally, emotionally, and physically. I trail run up 20 miles a week and I practice yoga daily. Kickboxing, and strength training are also in the rotation.
What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an aerospace engineer, teacher, and an Olympic swimmer.
Secret Talent? I write and paint.
